Trump and Nixon Similarities / Book Questions

1.       They are against silent majority. They are not scared to speak whatever is on their minds.
2.       They both had a secret plan to end wars. Trump supposedly has a secret plan to destroy ISIS and Nixon had a secret plan to end Vietnam War.
3.       They both believe that law and order is very important.
4.       They both had protesters at their rallies.
5.       There was racism going on in both of the elections.

6.            The U.S. was sworn enemies with them because they were the world’s two largest Communist giants. / People thought that the US, China, and the Soviet Union should get along and become powerful.
7.            We wanted to have a better relationship with China and the Soviet Union so then we wouldn’t have to worry about them being a threat to us.

8.            I think that the SALT I was a very important treaty. This treaty limited offensive nuclear weapons. It helped ease the growing concerns about the arms race. It showed that the US and the Soviet Union were willing to work together.

Asian Auschwitz

This article about the “Asian Auschwitz” really caught my attention. All of the ways they tortured the prisoners just made me sick.
Some of the prisoners were tortured by having their chest get cut open and dissecting all of their internal organs. All this was happening while they were still fully alive. They said they just wanted to know more about anatomy and that it was just education about sex. Ishii wanted to do a brain experiment, so while he’s still alive, they took an axe to his head, and pulled out the brain. They would hang people upside down and see how long it would take for them to die. They wanted to find a cure for frostbite so they would send people outside with little to no clothing on and pour water on them so they could freeze faster. Other times they wouldn’t even torture them for experiments, they would just do it to see them suffer. They would inject urine into the prisoner’s kidneys just so they could watch them under go severe pain.
All of these cruel activities occurred in an undercover medical experimentation under the Japanese Army. Officially, it was known as the Anti Epidemic Water Supply and Purification Bureau, but the people working there and in charge of it knew it better as Unit 731.

What really blows my mind is that after this fiasco got done, they went on with their life and got jobs. One guy that worked for Ishii became the head of Green Cross (Japan’s largest pharmacy company). How come they get to kill all these innocent people and get away with it? Yes, they’re doing it for experiments, but it is not right to kill them the way they did or at all. I was very saddened by the article and couldn’t imagine being tortured the way they were.

WW1 - Preparedness Movement

I think that the U.S. needs to get ready for World War 1. We need to end this thing right away. We have the ability to do so and this is why. We had the modern weapons during this time. We had rapid fire artillery (machine guns). We also had the ability to attack others defenses by using grenades, machine guns and poisonous gas. All these weapons were used to stop the soldiers from advancing.

We need to work with our allies and help them out as much as we possibly can. I mean, we have ancestral connections to these European countries: France, Italy and Great Britain. We can’t just let them fend for themselves. Wouldn’t you want to help a part of your family if they were in need of help? I know I sure would!  We should have full confidence in our country. We have a strong government and military. Believing in your country and being loyal to it is called nationalism. Are we just going to be cowards and watch our allies struggle? NO, we need to buck up, believe in our country and go help our allies.

What really triggered WW1 was the Assassination of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand. He was the Duke of Austria-Hungary and was assassinated by a terrorist group. The leader of this group was Gavrilo Princep from Siberia. Should we just let this group keep going out and killing other leaders? What happens when they take our own? This is why we need to prepare for WW1.

Muckraker Article - Marijuana

A small house in Little Compton, Rhode Island was filled with Marijuana. One suspect had a medical marijuana caregiver card to care for a sick friend. But there was way more marijuana than the patient would ever need. One suspect sold to an undercover police officer, looking to make a profit. Police have noticed this pattern all over America where people are helping the sick ones but they are growing more to sell and make money. Kevin O’Brien says he doesn’t know who the good guys and the bad guys are. They don’t know who are the drug dealers are or the patients. Peter Kilmartin, an Attorney General, wants to back a bill that eliminates the loopholes in the system. He thinks people should not be given a caregiver card unless they have had a background check. Joanne Leppanen, a supporter of medical marijuana patients, says it’s frustrating to see people abuse the program. There are about 7,600 patients and 3,500 caregivers statewide in Rhode Island.

Veteran's Day

I believe that there are some serious problems with the murder charges during the war and that they need to be changed now. They are making our soldiers go to war in the most extreme possible conditions. And to make their lives even more difficult, they have to follow all these rules called the rules of engagement (ROE). These rules are very complex and they are changing all the time so it is very hard for the soldiers to keep up with them. If a soldier slightly disobeyed a rule, most of the times by accident, they would pretty much get the death penalty. This whole thing is stupid and very unfair. If you feel like you are being threatened, you should have a right to fire. But some of the rules don’t allow for it and if you do what you feel is right, you might get shot. These murder charges are complete nonsense.

I do believe that citizenship is a duty. If you are able, you should be required to have a job and to help this country. You should have to do volunteer work. Every time you see a veteran, you should thank them for their duty. Every time you wake up, you should say the Pledge of Allegiance to show support for our country. I believe you need to have a say in this county and you should have to vote if you are a citizen. If you disagree with the government, it is your duty to either agree or disagree and have a say in it.

Bacha Bazi Problem

Bacha Bazi is a term that refers to men sexually abusing little boys and it is a big problem over in Afghanistan. These little boys are literally being raped by adult men! There was even a militia commander that tied a little boy to the bed and used him as a sex slave! Then as I kept reading, I read that a 14 year old got raped by another militia commander. And to make it worse, she was forced to marry the commander after he spends one year in jail!! The girl should not have to be forced to marry such a jerk that raped her. And the sad part is that our military has no control over it and cannot help stop it in any way.

This whole ordeal is just outrageous. This is wrong in so many ways. I mean men raping little boys!! It doesn’t even make sense why someone would want to do that! It surprises me that the people there are okay with it and won’t do anything to stop it. They think that it’s normal to do this and that there is nothing wrong with it. NO! There is nothing right about it at all. These little boys are being tortured and they have no control over what is going on. It is not right and it needs to come to a stop right now!
